SALT SPRING SINGERS 2021 - Henry Tabbers, design
We support up to three scholarships:

-one, with a value of $1500, to a graduating student from Gulf Island Secondary School.

-up to two scholarships, each with a value of $500, to members of the SSI community at large.

The award for a graduating GISS student is announced at the graduation ceremony. Information on the GISS award is available through the school's web site.

The scholarships for members of the SSI community are awarded to a Salt Spring Island community member wishing to pursue music studies and who demonstrates promise, commitment, and an enthusiastic attitude. Consideration will be given to community involvement in musical activities such as performances, concerts and training.
Preference will be given to candidates intending to study voice and/or who are members of a community or school choir.
The intent is that all scholarships be used to further musical studies.

The funds are provided once the recipient has demonstrated that he or she has committed to the action proposed in the application.

In addition to vocal lessons, scholarship recipients in the last few years have also used them to purchase a guitar and to attend music camp.

Each Spring, invitations to apply for the Community scholarships are advertised in the Gulf Islands Driftwood and on

An applicant may receive only one of the Salt Spring Singers Awards in any one year. Please note that the application deadline for the Salt Spring Singers Community Awards has been extended to May 3, 2021.
