There are very few Current (2025) Singers who sang under Joy Johnsen. However, soprano Connie Holmes is one of these rare people. She offers the following:
I joined the choir in 1987 during the time Joy Johnsen was the Director. She had been a nun and taught school for many years but then left that calling and married. The choir was expanding to have tenors and basses after having been women only for awhile. We sang a variety of music but no big works. Gary Lundy often played a musical interlude at sometime during our program. Concerts were held at the United Church and tickets were $5 each.
