Don Conley has been at the helm of the Singers for longer than anyone except Joy Johnsen. His broad experience as a conductor, performer and teacher fits like a glove with the Singers; he has perhaps the highest percentage of his house floor plan dedicated to musical instruments of anyone on Saltspring! Don is always ready with an amusing story to highlight or explain some detail in the music, often bringing to light some amazing thing that Don has done (play a solo on the organ for royalty, for example).
Under his tutelage, Don has taken the choir from Broadway, to Brahms, to Beethoven, and back to Broadway, with every other letter in between. We look forward to whatever new and interesting thing Don will come up with next.
